Human Trafficking Awareness Forum
On June 13th, 2024, from 5:45 PM to 7:30 PM, the Aliso Viejo Youth Council hosted a compelling Human Trafficking Awareness Forum at the Black Box Theater, located at Soka University. This free event featured a distinguished panel of speakers, including Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley, Investigator Austin Kaesman and Investigator Joel Ruvalcaba from the Orange County Sheriff's Department, experts Jimmy Voge and Jimmy Applegate from the Human Exploitation & Trafficking Unit, and Linh Tran from Waymakers. City Councilman Ross Chun moderated the live discussion, providing attendees with valuable insights into this critical issue. The forum's format allowed each speaker to share information individually, followed by an engaging Q&A session. Additionally, representatives from the Human Trafficking Task Force, office of District Attorney Todd Spitzer, and the Laguna Niguel Youth Committee set up resource tables outside the venue, offering attendees access to further information and support as they entered the event.
