Former president Donald J. Trump is the leading Republican nominee for the presidential seat in 2024. Meanwhile, the Department of Justice (DOJ) attempts to falsify evidence and charge Trump under false pretenses to prevent him from becoming the Republican nominee and having his name on the ballot.

Above, a civil trial in New York stemming from New York Attorney General Letitia James probe; James, a Democrat, brought the lawsuit against Trump last year alleging he and his company misled banks and others about the value of his assets in the Trump Organization. James claimed Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric, as well as his associates and businesses, committed "numerous acts of fraud and misrepresentation" on their financial statements.
This case is unprecedented and similarly odd due to the fact that there is no wronged party in the question of whether Trump overvalued his real estate assets. "The Attorney General filed this case under a consumer protection statute that denies the right to a jury," a Trump spokesperson said. "There was never an option to choose a jury trial. It is unfortunate that a jury won’t be able to hear how absurd the merits of this case are and conclude no wrongdoing ever happened." James, who pledged that she would sue former President Donald Trump ran on being a political activist, not an attorney general, claiming she will be a "real pain in the a--" to him. The cases brought by James and Bragg, the New York County district attorney, are essentially the weaponization of the DOJ and laws to pursue unpopular persons such as Trump. James is also the attorney general who sought to abolish the NRA (National Rifle Association) and other extremist policies to back her own agenda.

Trump said valuations cited by Judge Arthur Engoron for his Mar-a-Lago residence of $18 million are incorrect and that no entity was financially hurt in any of the relevant transactions. He further claimed Palm Beach County officials or experts also disagree with the figures cited by the judge. Trump’s Florida residence is estimated to be worth over $200 million.
At the same time, Trump is facing the question of whether his name may appear on
states’ primary ballots; the issue was whether he was barred from the ballot by a provision of the U.S. Constitution that forbids those who "engaged in insurrection" from holding office. Judges in states including Colorado more recently have ruled that Donald Trump is eligible for the primary ballot and that in the end, it is the voter’s decision on who to choose for president, not the DOJ’s to manipulate the choices at the ballot box.
This is the most dangerous legal theory to be raised against a political candidate to date. It is based on section 3 of the 14th amendment that bans a figure from office if they supported an insurrection or rebellion. It was written for those who had just come out of the Civil War when the Vice President of the Confederacy wanted to retake the oath he had violated. The Civil War was a war in which hundreds of thousands of people died; whereas most polls show that American citizens view January 6th for what it was, a protest that became a riot, not an insurrection.
DOJ officials are trying to knock Trump off of enough ballots that he won’t be able to win, at a time when he appears to be the leading candidate among Democrats and Republicans. The troubling issue is that they are doing this in the name of “democracy" by preventing tens of millions of people from voting for their choice for president.
